Character Name: Roggen the Bear
Race: Dwarf
Gender: male
Place of Birth: Doshor Avaroth
Arcane or Secular: Secular
Physical Description: Roggen the Bear stands 5'2" tall, and weighs in at nearly 200 lbs. Like his people, he has a great deal of well-defined muscle mass. He keeps his dark brown hair closely cropped, and his beard short. He does, however, have an enormous tattoo of a grizzly bear which covers most of his body. Tattooed paws and claws adorn his hands, tattooed-fur covers his forearms and legs, and the face of the bear is tattooed over his own. Despite the fierce appearance that gives him, Roggen has a carefree, childlike demeanor about him. He spends his days smiling dully and amusing himself with shining trinkets, and unless angered or needed in battle, Roggen would happily just sit and toss a sparkling coin in the air, laughing like a toddler.
Personality: Roggen's personality can best be defined as a Berserker. He lives to fight, lives to tear into whomever his enemies are, and enjoys nothing more than grinding his foes into dust beneath his heels. Roggen is not a very smart person, due in no small part to his diminished mental capacity. Roggen, in other words, is mentally retarded. Don't tell him that to his face, though, as he is quick to anger.
When not in combat, however, Roggen is a very friendly person, unaware of his own strength or the limitations he has. He has been known to hug someone in a friendly gesture and accidentally crack ribs, or inadvertently hurt a teammate during a casual game of Hawkball.
Background: Roggen was born in the same way as all the other dwarves of Doshor Avaroth before him. But by the time he was old enough to begin training, it became apparent that there was something different about him. He was quick to anger, and slow to grasp new tasks. His superiors discovered that he was retarded, and learning new skills was very difficult, or impossible, for him.
But one thing he did well, right from the beginning, was fight. With a weapon in his hands, Roggen became a genius, tearing through his foe's defenses, discovering new techniques and new tactics, and using everything available on a battlefield to ensure his own victory. Seeing this, his Commanding Officers decided that for him, an exception to the rules would be made. His only job was to fight, others would have to pick up his slack in domestic affairs, and he would require a 'nurse' to care for him, until such time as his notorious skill in battle was needed.
Skills/Talents: Roggen can fight exceptionally well. His mind, so addled in most things, takes to the field of combat like a well-tuned machine, using everything at hand as his personal weapons, down to the terrain and the layout of the land itself. Roggen is both a master fighter and a brilliant battlefield tactician, commanding others and building/manning defensive, or offensive, structures like a seasoned general.
Weaknesses: Outside of combat, Roggen's mind is that of a seven year old. Without someone to care for him, he would surely waste away and die, as he has no idea how to acquire his own food or water. Social graces are completely outside of his capacity, as are adult matters, such as bearing children, business, finance, etc.
Mary Sue Rationale: Idiot-savants aren't awesome soldiers. Period. This is completely unrealistic- even for a High-Fantasy game.
