Elves are considered to be the most beautiful of all the races. Standing about 6 feet to 7 feet tall, with slender, lithe frames, elves are a very peaceful, artistically oriented people. Beauty is tantamount to Elven life, and most elves take to wandering about the countryside, observing things they find pleasing. Elves are fortunate in that they have very long lifespans, easily reaching 100 to 150 years old...making their elders incredible repositories of information and history.
Elves aren't usually a very social people, even among themselves. The perpetual search for beauty makes many elves quite shallow, even as it gives others inflated egos. Although some think that they are arrogant, Elves in general are a fairly aloof people, and don't usually trouble themselves with worldly affairs. This sort of otherworldliness makes them difficult to befriend...though once you have gained an Elf's confidence, you have made a friend for life.
Elves revere Nature and the Natural order of things. As such, they are potent spellcasters, herbalists, and hunters, and abhor technology. They especially hate the Undead, who are seen as abominations existing directly against the Natural Order. Organized efforts to eradicate Undead have not been attempted, as most elves would rather concern themselves with the pursuit of beauty and harmonic balance than tracking down such vile creatures.
Elves have a shaky peace with the Canids, and although neither race really trusts the other, they are not hostile toward one another, which is unusual in and of itself. Elves are not a naturally aggressive people, they are intolerant to the point of fanaticism toward Undead, and view Terran encroachments with contempt at best and hostility at worst. This holds true for the majority of the Race, though there are always individuals who deviate from the norm, and the Elven love of natural beauty has led to more than one mixed bloodline.
There are few major cities or settlements populated solely by elves, as most are not content to stay in any one place for long. The one exception is the Moon City, Bishal. Bishal's geographic location varies in accordance with lunar stages, which affords the Elves who live within the chance to explore without ever leaving home.
Some Elves have made a living by providing their magical services or tracking skills to frontier settlements and small border towns. Large, urban cities are generally avoided, due to the perceived "filth" urban life invariably creates. Seeing a community of elves within a larger city or town is unheard of, seeing individual elves living in frontier settlements is not.
