Ah, the Battle Royale, the final challenge in the Colosseum, and by far the worst. Battle Royales are open to every character in the Barracks, and Legends are known to jump into the fray on occasion, as well. The Battle Royale is both PvP in that every character will be fighting every other character, and PvM in that Mods or Admins may, at any time, throw in any number of creatures, or even a Legend, into the fighting. Battle Royales will be announced ahead of time, giving all members ample opportunity to exclude, or include, their characters. An ALERT post will be announced on all boards when a Battle Royale is approaching, at least two weeks before the actual event. To participate, or decline to, simply reply to the announcement. Only characters who agree to participate are allowed within the Battle Royale. If less than 4 characters participate, the entire Battle Royale is postponed.
A battle Royale can consist of two different archetypes: the Free-for-All and the Hunter-Killer. A free-for-All is just as the name implies: every single player-character, Legend, and monster is attempting to kill off every other player-character, Legend, and monster. No quarter is given and no allegiances are allowed. When a Free-for-All is created, the first post in the thread will be an announcement of who is participating. While posting, make sure you specify whom you are attacking, if you do not, the post does not count and will likely be deleted.
Hunter-Killers are when a single, enormous creature or Legend is targeted by every player-character who wishes to participate. Think Onyxia in world of Warcraft: no single character can possibly win, but many characters working together might. In Hunter-Killer matches, the HP of the monster is the only thing known about them. Prizes awarded for killing a Hunter-Killer boss are only awarded to whichever character actually killed it. Meaning, if 16 characters fight the H-K boss, but Billyjoebob13 actually kills it, only Billyjoebob13 will get the prizes dropped. ALL characters will still receive any Honor or Glory they have earned in the battle. There is also a Wealth prize for every H-K boss: this Wealth is evenly divided among every character still alive at the end of the battle.
