Character Name: Trisken Swordbreaker
Race: Dwarf
Gender: male
Place of Birth: Doshor Avaroth
Arcane or Secular: Secular
Physical Description: Trisken Swordbreaker is unusually tall for a dwarf, standing nearly 6 feet high. Like his race in general, he has enormous muscle mass and definition. His hair is an off-red, similar to the color of rusted iron, though there is considerable grey along his temples and through his beard. His eyes are black, and his face is crisscrossed by a few small thin scars. His nose is lopsided from being broken numerous times, and he has few teeth, as most have been knocked out over the years. His hands both have a wide scar across the palms, just underneath each finger joint, and across the bottom of his thumbs.
Personality: Trisken is one of the oldest combat-effective dwarves in Doshor Avaroth. He has seen many battles, which accounts for his numerous scars and old injuries. Like the dwarven race itself, Trisken is not known for being a conversationalist. He attends to his duties as best he can, and volunteers for every military assignment or unit. The Army is Trisken's life and life's purpose, and he is loyal to the core.
Background: Trisken was born in Doshor Avaroth not long after the city's founding. He and his generation helped build, and expand, the city, eventually building its Island fortification, as well.
Trisken was never a remarkable fighter, nor a remarkable scholar, nor remarkable in any way, for much of his life. His unusual height proved a disadvantage in combat training, as he was a larger, and easier to hit, target. All that changed when a wandering convoy of storm-swept Canids found themselves too close to Doshor Avaroth.
Rather than creating a scene by punishing the travelers, who had already been battered and disoriented by the fierce desert winds, it was determined that a party of Dwarves would escort the Canids back to the borders of the forest. In this way, the caravan wouldn't become disoriented again and end up back at Doshor Avaroth, and if it was determined that they were in fact spies, a dwarven strike team would already be present to deal with the situation.
Trisken, and a few of his brethren, volunteered. In total, twelve dwarves set out to escort the Canid convoy, consisting of 6 wagons, and about 29 Canids, some mere children. For the first week, all went well. The party was making excellent time, and before the week's end, they were out of the desert sands and into the shadows of Doshor Irethe's peaks.
That was when the convoy was attacked. A party of Necrid mages, with a large cadre of skeletal warriors, had set up camp in a mountain cave, situated along a major pass. They had been forced into hiding by the Stygian menace, and despite having very few in their number who were mortal, and needed food and water, as their supplies had run out. In desperation, they attacked a seemingly rich source of both...a lightly defended Canid wagon train.
Too bad there were dwarven warriors among them.
Trisken and his brothers proved more than a match for a few skeletons and starving mages, and Trisken earned his warrior's name of Swordbreaker when he, literally, caught an undead's sword in his hands, and broke the blade off of the hilt. He still bears the scars of this deed on his hands, though he sees them as badges of honor.
Skills/Talents: Trisken, though no longer a young man, is a very able fighter. His size, which is a hindrance when he trains with other dwarves, makes him able to stand toe-to-toe with any other creature in Eshathar. The scars on his hands have hardened and thickened over time, and he is fond of using the old standby of breaking an enemies' sword in his bare hands.
Weaknesses: Trisken's biggest weakness is that he is old, and is quickly approaching the age where he will no longer be useful to his society. Fear of being unable to fight spurs him into taking unnecessary risks, making it fairly easy to provoke Trisken into a fight.
Mary Sue Rationale: This is an example of high quantity, low quality. The personality section isn't really blank, but it might as well be.
