Character Name: Wolder Thatcher
Race: Terran
Gender: male
Place of Birth: Waeleden
Arcane or Secular: Secular
Physical Description: Wolder has a medium build, slightly on the portly side. His shoulder-length hair is black, with a salt and pepper sprinkling of grey at the temples. He is not remarkably tall, though he wears boots with large heels and may appear so at times. His other garb is a mottled green and brown, allowing him to traverse many different terrains and be somewhat camouflaged.
Personality: Wolder is a charming, happy-go-lucky sort of fellow, often using humor and charismatic banter to diffuse potentially dangerous situations. He is also civil to the letter, extending copious amounts of civility and courtesy to friend and foe alike. This friendliness and courteousness has given Wolder an honor no other human can boast of: he is permitted, by the Canids, free roam within the forest.
Background: Wolder is the handpicked successor of a small group of bandits, chosen by the troupe's former leader: Wire. Wire, the Canid father of Sorien Denegar and 'husband' to the legendary huntress Caeliyaan, instilled in his protege the same sort of carefree attitude he himself had.
Wolder's life had not always been so footloose and fancy-free. His family had been killed when a fire broke out in one of Waeleden's poorer neighborhoods. Wolder, who was only 8 at the time, believed the fire to be the result of his harmless horseplay, and he fled, into the forest of Ivorsherlet.
Canid scouts found him, and would have killed him, had a rambunctious and popular young Canid named Wire not personally intervened. Wire raised the boy as his own for about three years, then disappeared. Rumors persisted that Wire had found, and bedded, the infamous Huntress, though neither Wolder nor anyone else knew if this was true or not. During Wire's absence, however, Wolder was the target of a great deal of hazing and intimidation, and there was only one way to end the abuse: combat. Though he was never a good fighter, Wolder miraculously bested several Canids in Wire's old troupe, until he finally managed to scrape a victory against an enormous Ursus, granting him the highest position in the troupe.
Once his position as chief was assured, Wolder continued Wire's tradition of harmless, good-natured mischief for the most part, occasionally resorting to doing something productive. He won notoriety among the Canid race when his troupe was instrumental in defending a remote Avian outpost from an attack by a Terran force, comprised of the newly-created Templars and their fearsome battle armor. This act led to his being awarded a rare honor: he would be allowed in Canid-held lands...so long as he had a Canid with him while he was there.
Skills/Talents: Wolder is a generally nice guy, and doesn't usually engage in any fighting. His bandits share this ideology, and are loathe to actually fight. But it is Wolder's charisma, and friendly, amicable persona that are his greatest strength, as that alone has won him the right to be in the forest, let alone command a troupe of about 16 Canids.
Weaknesses: Wolder is a poor fighter. And, being human, he cannot wield magic of any kind...and he lacks the natural attributes of his Canid companions. Worst of all, although he has been granted permission by the Canid Triumvirate to remain in the forest, not all Canids share this non-hostile view of him, and he cannot travel anywhere within Ivorsherlet without his trusty band of Canid rogues.
Mary Sue Rationale: Physical Description is pretty vague, and when you compare the Weaknesses to the Background section, it's practically a direct contradiction.
