Character Name: Daeleth
Race: Elf
Gender: female
Place of Birth: Bishal
Arcane or Secular: Arcane...Daeleth's magical skills encompass many spells so powerful, they are not included in the Grimoirum...for the safety of others.
Physical Description: Daeleth has pale blue skin, like the egg of a robin, and long, silvery-white hair that flows halfway down her back. Her lips are a deeper, cobalt blue, and her eyes are a shade of azure somewhere between the cobalt of her lips and the robin's egg of her skin. She is remarkably tall, over 7 feet, and has a slender, lithe frame. She seldom wears clothes, usually preferring to wear sheets of opaque ice about her person. When she ventures out of her palace, which is a rare event indeed, she wears an elaborate black dress, that fits close to her beautiful frame.
Personality: Daeleth is like the ice she is surrounded in. Cold, calculating, merciless, and devoid of emotion, save her wrath that burns like the kiss of cold iron. She rules Failewyn without question, though matters of infrastructure are left to an enormous cabinet of advisers. She is, essentially, just a figurehead...but if she were to give a command, all would follow it without question or pause.
Although she is capricious, Daeleth is occasionally known to bestow her favor upon those with uncommon skill in magical arts or who have done her a great service. Daeleth is the one that granted the title of Sorceress to Sorien of the Canids. Daeleth has also, very rarely, accepted guests into the palace. There are rumors that she bore a daughter to one such guest, but so far the rumors are unsubstantiated.
Background: Daeleth was born Aleweyn Fenwyr in Bishal, that much is known. At some point, she journeyed to the mage city of Failewyn, and quickly rose through the ranks at the Academy, earning the title of Sorceress faster than any other mage in the city's history. Once she had been officially recognized as a Sorceress, she became an instructor at the Academy, using her classes to weed out the greatest up and coming mages, and secretly recruit them to her cause.
After five years of doing this, Alewyn, and a cadre of about 30 of the top mages at the Academy, seized power from the prior Queen in a bloodless coup. She then gave herself the Royal name Daeleth, and quickly enforced her will upon the city. She recast the ice-spell that keeps Failewyn both chilled and protected as part of the inauguration rites that formally made her Queen, and unlike her predecessors, Daeleth-Alewyn's spell was so effective as to permeate the very bodies of the people living in Failewyn. Any child born within the city cannot leave its icy plain, lest they perish...such was the power of Daeleth's spell.
Daeleth is not the first queen of ice the city has had, though her spell is by far the most effective. Unlike her predecessors, she has not succumbed to madness to the point of taking her own life. She has ruled Failewyn for so long, the only record of a time when she was not Queen is in the Historical Archives.
Daeleth has had several lovers over the course of her reign, though she has not wed any of them, deliberately denying the title of King to any would-be suitors. Though rumors persist that she has a daughter, Daeleth has in fact never bore a child, nor is she physically capable of doing so. The potent spell she cast so effectively has essentially turned her body to ice, making her infertile and ensuring that she can never produce an heir to the throne.
Skills/Talents: Daeleth is a Sorceress Queen, and all her talents are derived from that. Almost anything she wishes to do can be accomplished through her spell work, and she has devised a number of spells so powerful, and so dangerous, that they were deliberately omitted from the Grimoirum so that other mages would not destroy themselves attempting to perform them.
Daeleth is also exceptionally beautiful, and uses this fact, in conjunction with her spellcraft, to entice, charm, or otherwise persuade would-be aggressors into submission. She is surrounded by the same cadre of mages she used to seize power, and this Royal Guard is capable of highly destructive spells, as well. Daeleth also directly presides over the monetary and currency exchange system in Failewyn, and has done so tactfully enough to ensure the prosperity of nearly every citizen. Failewyn residents enjoy a higher quality of life than any other kingdom, even despite the constant cold.
Weaknesses: Daeleth's body has aged long past the point of mortality for elves, and it is only the ice-spell that keeps her alive. If the spell could be broken, she would die immediately. Also, the only real military presence Failewyn has lies mostly in her and her Royal Guard. Though there are many other capable spellcrafters, the most skilled mages are recruited into her Royal Guard. If Daeleth was ever felled, the Guard would have had to have been felled as well...and in that scenario, the rest of Failewyn would be essentially helpless.
Mary Sue Rationale: Spells not in the Grimoirum. Completely against the posted rules.
