Although Pyrus Terra lies amidst the Doshor Irethe mountain chain, it is not actually part of the same. Pyrus Terra is not even a natural formation, as it was built to be an enormous fortress by one of the races lost in the War of Oblivion. Its outer walls blend seamlessly with the mountains surrounding it, and underneath the surface lies an enormous magical wall, that acts as a one-way door. Those on the outside cannot get in, but those on the inside can get out. This mystical barrier surrounds the entire mountain-fortification, just a few feet beneath the rock. There is only one spot without this ward, a small, cavelike hole that connects the inner sanctum with the outside world.
King Waeleth III of the human kingdom has used this great peak to his advantage, placing a large garrison of troops and an infrastructure of storehouses, vegetable gardens, and wells within it. The human city of Adenlyall lies at the southern foot of the peak, and its farms, pastures, and orchards are used to supply additional provisions to the troops hidden within the fortress. The cave-entrance has been excavated and converted into a series of portcullises, and the entire site is guarded by formidable human machinery and a sizable number of Templars, as well.
In addition to being an enormous fortress, Pyrus Terra houses Waeleden's top engineers and scientists, as well as the largest laboratory in the kingdom. This is where new Terran technologies are designed, built, and tested. Successful prototypes are often kept within the fortress as added security. The research staff working within Pyrus Terra are permanent residents: any effort to escape is seen as treasonous.
