Duels take place between two, and only two, player-characters. These can be in-game characters or Gladiators (Colosseum-only characters) or one of each, but the maximum number of competitors is 2. Both characters must be controlled by a different player. You cannot bring in two of your own characters and duke it out. If you want a single-player fight, check out The Pit. Duels can also consist of Tag-Teams between players: for example, two of BigPhatJoe's characters can fight against two of Trippipants's characters. In Tag-Team duels, each team must consist of two (and only two) characters played by the same player.

Duels proceed on a Challenge basis: you challenge someone else and they accept, or vice-versa. Please, only one challenge at a time, and no "I challenge you all!" declarations, either. If no challenges are made, no fights occur. The Mods aren't going to force a battle to occur...again, that's for the Battle Royale. To make a Challenge, post a new thread in the Duels section and state which character you are challenging. If you do not want to challenge a specific character but still want some PvP action, go to the Battle Royale. If you don't want to challenge anyone in particular, but just want to fight, go to The Pit. The Duels board is for PvP only...and is a great way to relieve inter-member tensions.

Once a challenge is made, and accepted, each character will make an Introductory post: no actual fighting each other is allowed in this intro, only posturing, strutting, taunting, etc. This is a chance for your character to try and 'win the crowd'. Remember, although the Colosseum is centered around battle, it's still an RPG. Try to impress the audience even before the fight gets started.

Fights will proceed in the same fashion as Pit Fights, only instead of one player-character fighting a random creature, two player-characters fight each other. A paragraph is an Action, just like before, and a post is a Day, just like before. A mod/admin may step in at any time to alter to circumstances of the fight: changing day into night, making it rain, etc. Admins/mods will NOT interfere with a fight, except to PM each player the result of their rolls, and to reward Honor or Glory as necessary.

If at any time, either player-character elects to concede, the fight is immediately over. Honor and Glory are handed out, and the thread is locked. Conceding counts as a Loss on your fighter's record, as does getting knocked out or killed. Killing your enemy, knocking him/her out, forcing them to surrender, or performing a non-lethal Finishing Move (allowing them to live) all count as wins, and your fighter's record is altered accordingly. If both characters are knocked out simultaneously or concede simultaneously, or shake hands and agree to end the fight, it counts as a Draw, and each fighter's record is altered accordingly. In the event of a Draw, the total Honor and Glory each character has earned throughout the match is added together, and divided equally among the characters. If one fighter earns 4 Honor and the other earns 2 Glory, each is awarded 2 Honor and 1 Glory, instead of whatever amount they had earned for themselves during the match.
